He was 66. Mr. Landry was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He graduated from Holy Cross High School, the University of Southwestern Louisiana and Oklahoma State University. He was a Navy veteran. He was a salesman for Kremers Urban and former president of Surgico. Mr. Landry represented the 99th House District from 1972 to 1976 and was the author of a bill to provide special license plates to handicapped people. He was a past president of the Pharmaceutical Representatives of New Orleans and the Krewe of Hercules; a former king of the krewes of Hercules, Pandora and Ancient Scribes; and a member of the Gentilly Council of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include two sons, Jay Bryan Landry of Mandeville and John J. Landry III of Destrehan; a daughter, Lisa Landry Phelps of Nashville, Tenn.; and four grandchildren. A Mass will be said Saturday at 2 p.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
