She was 55. Mrs. McCloskey was born in Evansville, Ind., and had lived in the New Orleans area since 1968. She graduated from the University of New Orleans. She was a real estate agent before going to work for LP&L. Mrs. McCloskey realized years ago that she probably had breast cancer, but she put off seeking medical care because she didn't trust doctors, she said shortly before her death. Her cancer was diagnosed this spring, and she received chemotherapy and radiation treatments, but the disease was too far advanced for a cure. From that point on, said her husband, Kendall McCloskey, she was determined that other women not make her mistake. She was a member of the Christ the King Catholic Church Choir and the Business and Professional Women. Besides her husband, survivors include a daughter, Laura Buchanan of Salem, Ind.; a son, Jonathan Joiner of New Orleans; a stepdaughter, Erin Combs of Charlestown, Ind.; a stepson, Sean McCloskey of Algiers; her father, Kenneth Jack Corder of Columbus, Ga.; a sister, Judy Corder of Evansville; a half- brother, David Dale Owen of Evansville; and five grandchildren. A Mass will be said Saturday at 1 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 535 Deerfield Road, followed by a jazz funeral. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m.
