Nicholas "Nick" Price Jr., a radiologic technologist, died Tuesday of complications from a stroke at his home. He was 68. Mr. Price was born in Cumberland, Md., and lived in Slidell for the past 24 years. He established the X-ray and medical laboratory at the Naval Biodynamics Laboratory in New Orleans. He was the author or co-author of many papers in the field of biodynamic research. Mr. Price formerly was chief of the X-ray department of the American Hospital in Pago Pago, American Samoa, and received a letter of commendation from the island's governor for his work in a tuberculosis survey of the population and his services to patients at a leprosarium. He also worked at Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital in Alamogordo, N.M., and was director of special medical services for Dynalectron Corp. at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M. He was chief radiographic technologist at CoCo Solo Hospital in Cristobal, Canal Zone, Panama, and the University of Michigan Highway Safety Research Institute in Ann Arbor, Mich. Mr. Price was a graduate of St. John's School of Radiologic Technology in Tulsa, Okla., and Our Lady of Holy Cross College in Algiers and received a master's degree in health services administration from St. Francis College in Joliet, Ill. He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was active in little theaters as an actor, singer and director in Alamogordo, Panama and Slidell and appeared with the New Orleans Opera. He was a member of the New Orleans Pipes and Drums. Mr. Price was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Slidell and a member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, the American Association of Clinical Chemistry, the American Hospital Association and the Royal Society of Health. Survivors include his wife, Caroline Schmidt Price; a son, Jefferson Dixon Price of New Orleans; a sister, Jackie Price DeHart of Alamogordo; and four grandchildren. A funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, Slidell. Visitation will be today from 7 to 10 p.m., with a vigil service at 8 p.m., and Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
