Klumpp, a retired real estate agent, died Monday in Birmingham, Ala. He was 85. Mr. Klumpp was born in New Orleans and lived in Birmingham. He was a graduate of New Orleans Academy and attended Tulane University, where he studied foreign trade and commercial law. Until his retirement, Mr. Klumpp owned and operated Fred H. Klumpp Real Estate and Insurance Co. He was instrumental in the planning and progress of Jefferson Parish, handling the sales of land for Metairie Playground and New Orleans International Airport. He also was involved in the organization of Dixie Finance Co. and Bonded Insurance Agency Inc., and was a founder and director emeritus of Metairie Bank. He was a past president of the New Orleans Board of Realtors, Jefferson Parish Board of Realtors, New Orleans Chapter of the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers, and Louisiana Association Committee for Selective Services under Presidents Roosevelt and Truman. He was a member of the Louisiana Board of Realtors, Home Builders' Association of New Orleans, Metairie Business Men's Association, New Orleans Chamber of Commerce, Young Men's Business Club of New Orleans, Lions Club, Windsor Club, Metairie Country CLub, and Munholland Memorial Methodist Church. He was an honorary sheriff of Jefferson Parish and received many awards, including Outstanding Realtor of the Year and the Danziger Award for service to his profession. Survivors include his wife, Lidie Adele Pittman Klumpp; three sons, Capt. William Frederick Klumpp of Pensacola, Fla., Charles Pittman Klumpp of Charlotte, N.C., and the Rev. Michael Andreas Klumpp of Uvalde, Texas; a daughter, Jean Carol Klumpp Allen; a brother, Charles Horace Klumpp of Austin, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., followed by a graveside service at 11:15 a.m. at Hope Mausoleum, 4841 Canal St. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
