All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ William Logan Crowe Sr., a professor of law and former associate dean at the Loyola University School of Law, died Monday of a heart attack at his home. He was 67. Mr. Crowe was born in Gurdon, Ark., and lived in New Orleans for the past 27 years. He graduated from Louisiana State University and the LSU School of Law. Mr. Crowe was admitted to the Louisiana bar in 1953 and, after two years in the Army as a first lieutenant, went into private practice in Monroe in 1955. He was associated with the firms of McKeithen, Mouser & McKinley and later Crowe & Parkerson. He also worked as an assistant city attorney in Monroe and assistant district attorney for Ouachita Parish before becoming a Monroe City Court judge from 1965 to 1970. Mr. Crowe joined the Loyola faculty in 1970 as an assistant professor of law and was named a professor in 1975. He taught insurance, patents and copyrights, product liability and torts. From 1977 to 1983, he also held a variety of administrative posts at the school, including associate dean in 1982-83. He was a visiting lecturer at the Southern University School of Law in 1978-79, '82-85 and '87-91 and a visiting professor at Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1979-80. Mr. Crowe was a member of Phi Delta Phi fraternity, Blue Key, the American Law Institute, and the institute's Consultative Group for the Restatement of the Law of Unfair Competition and its Consultative Group for the Restatement of Torts Project on the Apportionment of Liability. He was a former member of the Louisiana Judiciary Commission and the Board for the Promotion of Uniformity of Legislation in the United States. He was the author of many law review articles. Survivors include his wife, Alice O'Kelly Crowe; a son, William Logan Crowe Jr.; three daughters, Billie C. Shoemaker of Arlington, Va., Tara Judson and Rene Crowe; a sister, Barbara Keogh of Chicago; and seven grandchildren. A Mass will be said Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, 4127 S. Claiborne Ave. Burial will be in Metairie Cemetery.
