A New Orleans woman was killed early Sunday when the car she was driving struck a
utility pole.

Police said Valerie Garner, 37, died shortly after 3:30 a.m. in the 900 block of
Felicity Street. Garner was driving lakebound on Felicity when she lost control of
her 1988 Cadillac and struck the pole, police spokesman Sgt. Pat Peyton said.
