He also is remembered for his outstanding contributions through the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Knights of Columbus. In memory of Compagno, the St. Dominic Council of the Knights of Columbus will hold a champagne brunch Sunday, with all proceeds to benefit Ozanam Inn's Christmas dinner. Brunch will be served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.rn. at the Christopher Room, 6252 Vicksburg St. All are invited. Admission is $5. For information, call Wright at 862-2721 or 288-8741. Pastor Jerry Smith and the congregation of Pontchartrain Baptist Church, 600 Old Hammond Highway at the corner of Bellaire Drive, invite friends and neighbors to a free "Old Fashioned Fall Festival" Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church. Each month, St. Luke's United Methodist Church on Canal Boulevard acknowledges a member or members who are role models for sharing their time, talents and gifts with the church. This month's "Beacons of Light' are four couples: Earl and Pat Cobb, Jim and Susie Forsythe, DeWitt and Jean Morris, and Truman and Amy Ward. The members of the Lakeshore Woman's Club met this month at the Topaz Street home of Michele Najder, where the hostesses were Catherine Authement, June Duplass and Millie Merrick. Dennis Assaf, executive director of the Jefferson Performing Arts Society, spoke on the exciting cultural season in Jefferson Parish. Publicity chairwoman Jean Frymire reports that club members enjoyed "Le Monde Creole," a recent tour of French Quarter courtyards. Chairwomen Val Krejcu and Maureen Richard arranged for the members to have lunch at the Royal Orleans after the tour. The St. Paul's Episcopal School show choir performed last week at the Br'er Rabbit Festival at Laura Plantation in Vacherie. The show choir and the school's handbell choir will perform at various events throughout the city during the upcoming holiday season. The holidays are an especially busy time for St. Paul's students. While the two choirs are rehearsing, other students are creating ornaments for the Art Against AIDS fund- raiser Dec. 4 and for the school's Christmas tree for City Park's Celebration in the Oaks. The kindergarten and third-grade students are busy learning their lines for a Christmas play, "Holiday in Bethlehem," and the first- and second-graders are preparing for the "Festival of Lessons and Carols."
