A woman who was stabbed to death last week in Mid-City has been identified as
Terri Matthews, 33, of New Orleans, the coroner's office said.

A native of Cincinnati, Matthews had lived in New Orleans about two years, chief
coroner's investigator John Gagliano said.

Matthews was found Oct. 20 about 3 a.m. on a sidewalk in the block of Tulane
Avenue, between Jefferson Davis Parkway and South Rendon Street.

Police said she was stabbed in the back of the neck. She died soon after arriving
at Charity Hospital.

Detective David Adams is investigating. Crimestoppers, at 822-1111, is offering a
reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment.
