She lived most of her life in Henry, but following the destruction of her home by Hurricane Rita, returned to her birthplace of Rice Cove, where she celebrated this past Easter with her family. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, April 25, 2006, 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes in Erath by Father Wayne Duet. Readers for the Mass will be her daughter-in- law Mary Lenny Broussard Perrin and her grandson Andy. Gift bears will include her granddaughters and great granddaughters. Born on June 9, 1918, in Vermilion Parish; she was the daughter of Clairville and Anatile Metréjean Broussard. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, sewing, and gardening. She was dedicated to her church community and was a long-standing member member of the Ladies Altar Society. She was energetic, joyful, generous and caring to everyone she met. She entertained and was interviewed numerous times by international news organizations about Cajun culture. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Lolly Perrin, her sister Effie Broussard Bares, and her son Wesley James Perrin. Survivors include sons, Terry of New Orleans, Warren and his wife Mary of Lafayette, daughter Natial and her husband David d'Augereau of Abbeville, and brother Perfay Broussard of Erath. She had 11 grandchildren: Melanie Elizabeth Perrin, Angie Perrin Comeaux, Kathleen Letia Perrin-Moore, Mary Rebecca Perrin Ouellet, Andrew Edmond Perrin, Bruce Henry Perrin, Jennifer Joan d'Augereau, John David d'Augereau, Jessica Lynn d'Augereau, Joseph Henry d'Augereau, and Janine Olivia d'Augereau. She had 7 great grandchildren: Claire Marie Comeaux, Camille Renée Comeaux, Whitney Christine Moore, Matthew Henry Moore, Nicolas Jean Ouellet, Lily Mae Ouellet, and Caden Anthony Turner. The family would like to thank her friends Lily Dronet and Louise Libersat, nurse Caroline Rushing of Abbeville General Hospital, and Deacon Brady LeBlanc for their friendship and compassion. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Henry L. and Ella Mae Broussard Perrin Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette or the Acadian Museum in Erath.
