Former Director of N.O. 
Library Dies at 93 

Reglious services for Henry M Gill, former director of the New Orleans Public
Library and the old Publc Schools Alliance, will be conducted at 11 a m Tuesday at
the Riemann Chapel, Gulfport, Miss. 

The Rev Durrie Hardin, Espicopal minster, will officiate and interment will be
in Evergreen Gardens, Gulfport. 

Mr Gill, 93, died early Monday in Gulport Memorial Hospital. For the past
nineteen years he has been living in Florida and visiting hs daughter, Mrs Olive G
Waddell, Pass Christian, at the time of his death. 

A graduate of Tulane University in 1890 and an attorney, he was active in New
Orleans politics during his career here. He was sworn in as assistant recorder in
Recorders Court in 1934 by Mayor T Semmes Walmsley. 

Mr Gill was librarian of the New Orleans Public Library from 1906 to his
resignation in 1928. He taught at Warren Easton High School for a number of years. 

He had served as corresponding secretary of the Louisiana Historical Society
in the 1930s and had spoken at a number of meetings. 

Besides Mrs Waddell, survivors include five grandchildren and 17
great-grandchildren.

Henry Miller Gill, born October 1872, s/o Thomas Maynard Gill and Martha Jane
Miller married Olyve Borland. born 28 August 1875, d/o of General Euclid Borland and
Charlotte Wilcox McCall, --- 30 March 1897 in New Orleans six months after being
orphaned by father's death in Norfolk, VA. Younger sister, Elizabeth, at home with
them till her marriage in 1902 to St Clair Adams. This union producing three
offsprings, two to aduthood, being Olyve Borland Gill (Mrs Olive G Waddell) and
Euclid Borland Gill, M D.
