Mr. Montz died in 1975 at 93. Mrs. Montz died in 1973 at 85.The Montzes' seven children, ages 74-91, attended the event. They are Vivian Montz and Yolande Landry, both of Houston; Daniel Montz of Lafayette, who hosted the event with his wife, Bonnie; Elmore Montz and his wife, Inez, of Lafayette, also hosts for the reunion; Quincy Montz of Reserve who attended with his wife, Beverly; Pearl Madere of LaPlace; and Floyd Montz of Destrehan who attended with his wife, Ada Mae. Two siblings died. Lillian, a twin to Vivian, died in 1973. Armond, born in 1916, died in 1917. Also attending the reunion were Virginia LeDoux, Elmore and Inez Montz's daughter, who organized the event; and Jo Ann Levet, Pearl Madere's daughter, who assisted. Reminiscing about family events in the 1920s, '30s and '40s was a highlight. Mr. Montz driving the family in the Model T Ford to Francis Beach, family visits to the Fourth of July fair on the community club grounds at Godchaux Sugars Inc. and trips to the "picture show" at the Reserve Community Club every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday for only $2 per month were among the fond memories. The family also observed four siblings' wedding anniversaries. Elmore and Inez are celebrating 61 years of marriage; Daniel and Bonnie, 59 years; Quincy and Beverly, 51 years; and Floyd and Ada Mae, 50 years. The Montz children were born and raised in the same Acadian- style house in Lions. They attended Frisco Elementary School in Lions and graduated from Lions Godchaux High School in Reserve. The family plans to hold another reunion May 26, 2000.
