This society, pursuant to annual custom will assemble this morning and will attend high mass. San Bartolomeo’s eve was duly observed last evening. The San Bartolomeo Society assisted at vesper service in St. John the Baptist church, on Dryades Street, near Calliope. Very Rev. John M. Laval, vicar general, and pastor of St. John’s Church, officiated, and he was assisted by Fathers LaRosa and Baley. At the conclusion of the ceremonies, the society adjourned to its headquarters, on Dryades and Clio streets, and had a social meeting, with speeches, fireworks, and refreshments. Officers and members will assemble this morning at 9 o’clock at the hall, and thence will go to St. John the Baptist church to attend solemn high mass and listen to a panegyric of the saint, which will be delivered by Father LaRosa. The officers of the San Bartolomeo Society are: President, Felice Bertucci; vice president, S. Bertucci; recording secretary, Antonio Greco; financial secretary, John Bazile; treasurer, C. Mazziola; grand marshal, Jos. Gruffia. The society was organized in 1878, and incorporated in 1879. It has relieved considerable disease among the Italians in this city, and its objects include the broadest and most Christian dispensation of charity and benevolence.
