Taney, 46 years old, watchman for the Public Belt Railroad, was struck and slightly injured Mondy night by an automobile which did not stop he fired three shots at the speeding machine. The machine, which struck Mr. Taney at Bartholomew and Burgundy streets, was said to have contained two men and a woman. The car was pursued more than ten blocks by Patrolmen Kirchem and Tedesco in a commandeered livery car, but eluded the policemen.
