48. The Center Coordinates All University Instruction Regarding African And African-American Studies.
It Also Contains Historical Records And A 600-Piece Collection Of African Art. The Center Is Housed In
The Suno Library. Mr. Frye Also Taught Courses In African Philosophy And Led A Summer Institute On The
Subject For Teachers. He Was Born In Washington, D.C., And Had Lived In New Orleans Since 1991. He Was
The Author Of Several Books, Including 'The Anatomy Of Black Philosophy, ' 'A Black Philosophy Reader,
' 'Toward A Philosophy Of Black Studies, ' 'Values In Conflict: Blacks And The American Ambivalence
Toward Violence' And A Novel, 'The Peter Pan Chronicles.' He Was The Founding Editor Of The New England
Journal Of Black Studies, Editor Of Contributions In Black Studies And Author Of Many Articles In
Professional Journals. He Graduated From Howard University With Bachelor's And Master's Degrees In
African Religion And Philosophy And Received A Doctorate From The University Of Pittsburgh. He Formerly
Taught At Fayetteville State University, Prairie View University, Hampshire College And The City
College Of New York. Among His Awards Were The Benjamin A. Mays Academy Scholars Award And The Ford
Foundation Advance Study Fellowship. He Was A Consultant For The Audubon Zoo's New African Exhibit. He
