Maloney, 81-year-old resident of Mandeville, who was burned to death in a fire at her home there Tuesday, were held Wednesday at St. James Major church, 3778 Gentilly Road. Interment was in Metairie cemetery. The fire was discovered by neighbors who, believing that Mrs. Maloney had accompanied relatives to New Orleans, thought that the house was unoccupied. The fire spread rapidly and the structure was razed. A native of New Orleans, Mrs. Maloney moved to Mandeville two years ago, occupying the residence which she had maintained there for the past 30 years. Miss Anna Maloney, a daughter, lived with her. She is also survived by two sons, James P. Maloney and Julius A. Maloney; another daughter, Mrs. Henry Phillips; ten grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Neighbors in Mandeville who saw the fire believed the building was unoccupied. Mrs. Maloney, a native of New Orleans, the former Miss Julia Agnes Phelan, had maintained a country place in Mandeville for the past 30 years, but established it as her residence only two years ago. She is survived by two sons, James P. Maloney, traffic manager for Swift and company, and Julius A.
