Oertling, widow of the late Henry Oertling, will be laid to rest in the family tomb in the Firemen's Cemetery at 3 o'clock this afternoon. The funeral services will be conducted at the home, 2214 Bienville street. Mrs. Oertling died yesterday at the age of eighty-three years. She was a native of Germany, having been born at Heilbronn, Wurtemberg. She came to New Orleans sixty years ago with a relative. In 1848 she became the wife of the late Henry Oertling, who at one time a prominent business man. The couple lived happily together for forty-three years, rearing a large family of sons and daughters. Mr. Oertling died fifteen years ago. Mrs. Oertling always took a most active part in all matters pertaining to charity. For thiry-five years she was treasurer of the Ladies Aid Association of the German Protestant Orphan Asylum. She was also intimately associated with the work of the Bethlehem Orphan Asylum and of the German Old Folks' Home. Mrs. Oertling was also prominently identified with the annual festival of the Volksfest. Mrs. oertling kept her association with these organizations constantly until recently when old age and infirmities compelled her to remain at home. About ten days ago Mrs. Oertling suffered a stroke of paralysis. She was unconscious practically all the time. She leaves seven children - mr. Wm. C. Oertling of this city, connected with the lumber business; Mrs. C.C. Alexius of Covington, La.; Mrs. A. Byerum, of Olathe, Colo.; Miss Frederica Oertling of New Orleans, Fred Oertling of San Francisco, Cal.; Mr. Gus Oertling, secretary and treasurer of the Jackson Brewing Company, New Orleans; twenty-five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
