Oertling. - Mrs. Louisa Carolina Oertling, who died yesterday at the family residence, 2214 Bienville street, was for thirty- five years a landmark in New Orleans charitable work, having been treasurer of the German Protestant Orphan Asylum during that period and a member of the Board of Directors of the Old Folks' Home, and also connected with the charitable work of the Bethlehem Orphan Asylum. Mrs. Oertling was born in Germany eighty-three years ago last Christmas Day, and had resided continuously in New Orleans for sixty-six years. She was the widow of the late Henry Oertling, who was in the lumber and hardware business during his life in New Orleans. Mrs. Oertling is survived by seven children, twenty-five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The sons and daughters of Mrs. Oertling are: William C. Oertling of New Orleans, Mrs. G.C. Alexius of Covington, La.; Mrs. H.A. Byerrum of Olathe, Col.; Fred N. Oertling of San Francisco, Gus Oertling, secretary and treasurer of the Jackson brewery of this city; Miss Fredica Oertling and Mrs. Joseph Odenwand of New Orleans. The funeral will be held from the family residence this morning at 9 o'clock, and the body will be interred at Odd Fellows' Rest.
