Clifford Lieven Schmidt, Sr., a retired salesman for New Orleans Novelty Co., 
died Friday of cancer at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 82. Mr. Schmidt 
was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 54 years. He 
graduated from Alcee Fortier High School. He was a Navy veteran. He was past 
president of City Park Tennis Club.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Hill Schmidt; six sons, Timothy G. and 
Thomas G. Schmidt Schmidt of Covington, Clifford L. Schmidt, Jr. of Dallas, 
Richard K. Schmidt of Fairfield, Conn., David P. Schmidt of Bellingham, Wash., 
and David S. Miller; two daughters, Suzanne Schmidt Maloney of Beaumont, Texas, 
and Minette Millar McGuire of Metairie; a brother, Robert L. Schmidt; a sister, 
Lucille Schmidt Morgan; 26 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass will be said Tuesday at noon at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 901 
Beverly Gardens Drive, Metairie. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at 
Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Burial will be in Lake Lawn Park 
Mausoleum.
