Be it Remembered, That on this day, to-wit: the Eighth day of 
May in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and 
Eighty and the One Hundredth and fourth of the Independence 
of the United States of America, before me J. Jones, M. D., 
President Board of Health and ex-officio Recorder of Births, 
Marriages and Deaths, in and for the Parish and City of New 
Orleans, 

personally appeared: 
John W. Held a native of Germany residing No. 77 Seventh Street, 
who hereby declares that on the first day of April 1880 (1st April
1880) at the aforesaid residence, was born a male child, named 

		Edward Frank Held (white), 

lawful issue of Deponent, a native of Germany aged 36 years, 
occupation Longshoreman and Louisa Bub [sic] a native of this 
city aged 33 years.

Thus Done at New Orleans, in the presence of the aforesaid 
John W. Held ...
