Askeu, a native of this city, residing at no. 219 Willow Street, who hereby declares, that on the fifth day of November 1882 at Berwick City, LA, was born a female child, named Odilie M. Stenger (white) lawful issue of Laurence Stenger, a native of Germany, aged 33 years, occupation, Engineer, and Barbara Streib, a native of this city, aged 32 years. This done at New Orleans in the presence of the aforesaid, T. T. Askeu, as also in that of Messrs. P. H. Lauauze and A. A. Voorhies, both of this city, witnesses, by me requested so to be who have here unto set their hands together with me after due reading hereof, the day, month, and year found above written. Lisa Cotten's Notes: This was my great-grand Aunt. Grandparents are unknown at this time. Siblings: Peter Laurence Stenger, Katie C. Stenger, Michel Edward Stenger, Joseph Louis Stenger, Lawrence Charles Stenger, Sr. and an infant that died before 1900. Note # 2: Berwick is probably the town directly across the Atchafalaya River from Morgan City. The fact that it was listed as Orleans Parish may have been referring to the church parish, and not the state parish.
