Be it Remembered, That on this day to wit: the Twenty eight of 
February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and 
sixty five [28 February 1865] ... before me F. M. Crozat, duly 
commissioned and sworn Recorder of Births and Deaths, in and for 
the Parish and City of New Orleans 

personally appeared: 
Paul Emile Theard a native of New Orleans residing on Royal street 
between St. Ann and Marais street in this City who by these presents 
declares that on the twenty eighty of February eighteen hundred and 
sixty (28th February 1860) at four o'clock a.m. on Esplanade street 
between Chartes and Royal streets in this City was born a male child 
named 

			Charles James Joseph Theard 

lawful issue of deponent with Miss Marguerite Athenais Pilie a 
native of New Orleans.Thus Done at New Orleans in the presence 
of the aforesaid Paul Emile Theard ...
