[Transcriber's note: There are several clippings from the newspaper that appear taped into the admission register on the page after 28 Nov. A new book was started on 29 November. The clippings are not in good condition and hard to read.] Accident - A laborer, named Edward Brady, employed on the new Custom House, fell from the scaffolding to the earth - a distance of about thirty feet yesterday morning, and was so severaly wounded that those there had no expectation he would survive. He was ___ to the Charity Hospital. A Mysterious Homicide - On the 14th instant, a German lad, whose name was given as Martin Schwan and his age 16 years, was brought to the Charity Hospital with a very severe wound in the back, under the right shoulder blade, which it was seen at one was inflicted with some sharp and penetrating instrument. The young died of the wound on Friday, and the coroner was called upon to hold an inquest over the body. He waited until yesterday afternoon before closing the inquest, endeavoring to discover testimony that would throw some light on the affair, but without the slightest success, and a more perfect mystery it would be almost impossible to conceive. It is not known who brought him to the hospital. On the day he entered, a man who represented himself to be his brother visited him, but never called after, nor did any other person. All that was obtained from the boy himself was that he was stabbed by a man who wore white pantaloons, but as to where or how the deed was done nothing was elicited from him. On opening the body it was found that the wound had been inflicted with a large dirk, which had completely cut the seventh rib and nearly severed the sixth, and about four inches and a half of the blade of which remained in the wound. Examination of the Charge of Murder - Our readers will remember that on _____day last, we gave the particulars of a strange _____ ____, in which it was stated that a German lad, sixteen years of age, named Martin Schwan, had died in the Charity Hospital of a wound in his back, from which was extracted, after death, about four inches of the blade of a double-edged dagger or dirk. At the time of the inquest, no clue was obtained by which to identify the murdered, but the publicity given by the ___ to the circumstances of young Schwan's death, illicited inquiries, and subsequently facts, which tended to inculpate a young man named George Kemp_r. This young man was arrested a few days since in the Third Municipality and was yesterday taken before Recorder Seuzeneau to be arraigned on the charge of murder. For the prosecution, George Duchlmann, Henry Smith, and Wm. Jones (all __) were examined. In substance, they testified that they were with the deceased and accused in the Third Municipality Beer Garden at the corner of Old Levee and Victory streets, during the evening of the 13th inst, and without any provocation, between 9 and 10 o'clock, the accused drew a dirk and stabbed the deceased, the blade entering the right side of his back, between his sixth and seventh rib. Adolph Rapp, the watchman on the Beer House beat, testified that he saw Schwan, the deceased, early in the evening of the 13th inst., fighting with a lad still younger than himself. At that time, he was very much intoxicated. He also saw Schwan on the morning after he was stabbed, he was walking about, and inquired of him how he could get into the Charity Hospital. The watchman gave him the required information - he went, remained there for eleven days with the dagger blade still in his back, and then died. The examination will be continued on Monday next. __________________________________________y - Between eight and nine o'clock ___Girod and Common street as th_____________________.
