City of New Orleans An Inquest, held in the City of New Orleans, in the Parish of Orleans, on the 10th day of December, in the year of our Lord, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy-One. Before me, James T. Jackson, Coroner for the said Parish of Orleans, on the view of the dead body of Nina Lefrere, aged 43 years, Native of Louisiana, then and there lying dead on board Schooner Thereza, lying in the waters of the Old Basin, head of Broad Street. The Jurors, whose names are hereunto subscribed, having been duly sworn and charged diligently to engineer, on behalf of the State of Louisiana, how, when, and after what manner the said Nina Lefrere, came to death, and upon this oath do say that this day, the body of said Nina Lefrere was found dead at the above described place, and after reviewing the body of the said Nina Lefrere, and after a careful examination of the body, and evidence cited in the case, We the jury give as Verdict: that she came to her death suddenly at 8 o'clock this a.m., by Pulmonary Congestion. The above death is supposed to have been caused by want of medical treatment.
