C. Murphy (?), duly commissioned and sworn Recorder of Births, Deaths, and Marriages in and for the Parish of Orleans, personally appeared, Joseph Anseman, a native of Louisiana, residing in Algiers, who hereby declares that James Aikman, a native of New York, aged seventy years died on the thirteenth instant (June 13, 1872) in Algiers. Cause of Death: Chronic Diarrhea Certificate of D. W. H. Riley Thus done at New Orleans in the presence of the aforesaid J. Ansemann as also in that of Messrs. A. Laffenanderson(?) and H. Colen, both of this city, witnesses, by me requested as to be, who have hereunto set their hands, together with me, after reading hereof, this day, month and year first above written.
