Be it remembered that on this day to wit, the Twenty-third of December 
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four and 
the ninety-sixth of the Independence of the United States of America, 
before me, G. Casanave, duly commissioned and sworn Recorder of Births 
Marriages and Deaths in and for the Parish and City of Orleans personally 
appeared

C. J. (?) a native of New Orleans, residing in the Parish of Jefferson, 
who hereby declares that 

Etienne William Legier

A native of New Orleans aged Sixteen years and Ten months, Died Decem. 
on the Twenty Second instant in the present year (December 22, 1874) at 
the corner of Mandeville and Goodchildren Streets in the city.

Cause of Death (?) Fever
Certificate of Dr. J. S. .C. Daquin

Thus done at New Orleans in the presence of the aforesaid C. J. (?) as 
also in that of Messrs. ???? both of this city, witnesses by me requested 
so to be, who have hereunto set their hands together with me, after due 
reading hereof the day, month and year first above written.
