Orleans, residing at Jackson St. in this 
city who by these presents declares that 

		Charles Rice 

a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, aged 40 years, 
died the month of July, 1863 (July 1863) at
Slackey (Flackey?) River, Parish of 
Catahoula, La.
