H. Robin, M.D., John Callan, J.D., Chairman of the Board of Health and Ex-Officio Recorder of Birth, Deaths, and Marriages, in and for the parish of Orleans, and the City of New Orleans, personally appeared Leo Ingersoll, an undertaker, native of this city, residing 442 Jackson Ave, who hereby declares that John P. Spellman (White) a native of Algiers, LA, aged 58 years, departed this life this day (28th of May 1928) at 931 Evelina St., Algiers, in this city. Cause of death: Chronic Nephritis, arterio-hypertension Certificate of Dr. A. J. Babin "Deceased was married to Carrie Paterson(sic), and the son of Michael Spellman, native of Ireland, and Julia Nolan, native of N.J." Thus done at New Orleans, in the presence of the aforesaid Leo Ingersoll as also in that of P. H. Lunauge and W. J. Prudhomme, both of this city, witnesses by me requested so to be, who have hereto set their hands together with me, after reading here of this day, month, and year first above written. (Signed) W. H. Robin, MD *****Obituary shows died on the 27th and funeral on the 28th. Death Certificate shows that the undertaker showed up on the 28th to file the death cert and that John died on the 28th. I tend to believe the obituary instead of the death cert since the obituary was printed on the day of the funeral (May 28, 1928). (Spelling of wife's maiden name should be PETERSON..from personal knowledge and source documents.)
