Montamat, Third Justice of the Peace for the Parish of Orleans, Personally appeared: Victor Baudier, Guardian, Who, in the presence of the undersigned witnesses, declared to me that he gives his consent to the Marriage of Miss Clementine a minor, aged 19 years, with Gabriel Levasseur [who also gives his consent]. In Testimony Whereof, The appearer signed this ... consent together with the witnesses, and me, the said Justice of the Peace For The Parish of Orleans, this 25 day of May 1872. Witnesses: V. Baudier; John Montamat, Third Just. of the Peace For The Parish of Orleans. *** Before me, John P. Montamat, Third Justice of the Peace for the Parish of Orleans, Personally Appeared, J. C. Tremoulet and H. de Gruy who being duly sworn, did depose and say that they are well acquainted with Louis Levasseur who apply for a Marriage License, and know him to be above the age of twenty one years. Sworn to and Subscribed before me, New Orleans, May 25, 1872, John Montamat, Justice; [also signed by] J. C. Tremoulet and H. DeGruy. *** Be It Remembered, That Louis Levasseur Principal and J. C. Tremoulet as Surety, acknowledge themselves indebted to the State of Louisiana in the sum of One Thousand Dollars. Whereas, the above bounded Louis Levesseur has applied to John P. Montamat, Third Justice of the Peace for the Parish of Orleans, and has obtained from him a License to Marry Miss Clementine Baudier. Now the condition of the above obligation is such, That in case within two years from this date it should not appear that there existed at the time of granting such License any legal impediment to said Marriage, then and in such case the above Obligation shall be null and void, or else it shall remain in full force and virtue. (June 11, 1872) was registered a marriage, celebrated in the city of New Orleans by Rev. Fr. B. Jobert on the 3 day of June 1872 between Louis Levasseur, aged twenty three (23 years), a native of La., son of Gabriel Levasseur and Adelaide Foucher and Clemence Baudier, aged (20 years), a native of La., daughter of Alexandre Baudier and Elodie Boutte. The celebration of the marriage was performed in presence of the witnesses: V. Baudier; Gariel Levasseur. The license was issued on the 25 of May 1872 by Hon. J. T. Montamat, 3rd Justice of the Peace, in the presence of witnesses: N. C. Tresscoulet [sic: J. T. Tremoulet]; H. DeGruy. E. C. Morphy, Recorder. License returned and filed, book no 3, folio 523.
