Horace Williams Co., Inc. Date Signed: March 27, 1937 Name Signed: Joseph Baragona SocSec #437-05-4421. Previously registered with the U. S. Employment Service; registration #2252-1509. Additional Comments: The New Orleans, Louisiana Birth Records Index, 1790-1899, Vol. 86, Pg. 143 (on Acestry.com) shows Joseph's middle name as Scotola. The names of six of his brothers also included the same middle name. One of Joseph's sons said the Baragona name was changed from a much longer name that started with an "S." It is purely speculative that Scotola was part of the original Baragona name. Joseph married Clara Mack about 1910; they had 10 children. They later divorced, and he reportedly remarried. He lived in a nursing home in Newellton, Louisiana about six months before his death on September 16, 1968, in Tensas Parish. He is buried at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton. Joseph was my husband's grandfather.
