All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http:/www.usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIAM BROWN, Book 8, page 192 "Brown filed 1st Decr. 1845 United States of America State of Louisiana Parish & City of New Orleans Be it known that on this day the twenty sixth of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & forty five and in the Seventieth year of the Independence of the United States of America at Eleven O'Clock A.M. At the request of William Brown a resident of Hancock County State of Mississippi I André Detremont Doricourt a notary public for the Parish & city, of New Orleans, duly commissioned & sworn did repair to the Hospital of Dr. Luzenberg situated on Champs Elysees street in the third Municipality of said city & there found the said William Brown sick in bed, but of sound mind memory & understanding as he appeared to me notary and to Messieurs John William Mueller, William Ferdinand Charles Duplessis, Joseph Baker witnesses and said William Brown requested me to receive his last will & testament which I have done under his dictation in the following words: He declared that he was born in the town of Carlshamn in the Kingdom of Sweden, That his real name is Olaf Lindquist, that his father & mother are both dead, that he has never been married & that he has a brother named Hakan Lindquist now living in the aforesaid town of Carlshamn that his property consists in a farm together with the Stock thereto belonging situated in Hancock county State of Mississippi and of twelve hundred dollars in the Bank of Louisiana in this city, that he gives & bequeaths to Peter Nelson of the State of Mississippi who had now the management of the said farm One undivided half of the said farm, together with one undivided half of the Stock & farming utensils thereon, that he gives & bequeaths the residue of his estate wherever situated to his aforesaid brother Hakan Lindquist. That he appoints Gustavis Schmidt of this city of New Orleans attorney at law as his testamentary executor, with seizin of his estate And ? declares that he revokes all other Wills & testaments that he ? (bottom two lines too dark to read) (next page - can read) "...testament was dictated to me by the said testator and in presence of the witnesses above named all residents of this city & Parish of Orleans, and the same was written by me in the continual presence of the above three witnesses, and without turning aside to other acts & having read the said will to the said testator in a loud & audible voice & in th continual presence of the above named witnesses, he declared that it contained his last will & testament and the testator having declared that he knew not how to write has made his ordinary mark in the presence of the aforenamed witnesses.
