He is married to the former Betty Jean Taylor of Arcadia, Louisiana, and they are the parents of three sons: James, Douglas, and Paul. Judge Farr served in the United States Army from September 16, 1943, until January 16, 1946, when he was discharged as a Master Sergeant. He served in the southwest Pacific area, the Philippine Islands, and Japan. He is a member of the American Bar Association, American Judicatur Society, Louisiana State Bar Association (House of Delegates, 1960-1961; Board of Governors, 1964-1966); Fourth Judicial District Bar Association (Secretary-Treasurer, 1949-1958; Executive Committee, 1956-1968); L.B. Faulk Post No. 13, American Legion; Downtown Monroe Lions Club; former member Monroe Junior Chamber of Commerce.
