Upon hearing the OperatorÝs voice, tell him the name or number of the subscriber with whom you wish to communicate; then hang up the Telephone, and when your bell again rings replace the Telephone closely to your ear and proceed with conversation. When a subscriber wishes to communicate with you, the Operator will ring your bell and connect the wires. Answer promptly with a ring; then place the Telephone to your ear and proceed with conversation. When through talking, hang up your Telephone and give one ring as a signal to disconnect. Do not speak too loud--a moderate, clear tone is much better. Please notify the Manager of any faults in line or instrument. Do not fail to give the connecting signal when through talking. Communication through the Telephone Exchange is for the use of subscribers and their employees. # # #
