They left Ouachita Parish in the spring of 1862 and joined the Battalion on James Island a few months prior to the battle of Secessionville, in June of 1862. It appears that Lt. Colonel John McEnery raised this company while home in Monroe on furlough. This company was known as the Ouachita Rebels. J. H. Walker......................Captain Thomas N. This roster is from a roll call dated 30 June 1862, a few weeks after the Battle of Secessionville.
