Smith (who was killed in the Confederate service), his Co., Regiment and No. I can't give you was once in the Quarter Master's Department under and when Col. S.D. Jackman went up to Arkansas in 1864 to recruit Capt. W.H. Smith went with Jackman and I was a private under Col. Jackman, and when he was killed or shot, I was by his side and helped take care of him until he died. I regret I can't give you company and regiment be for he be for he (sic) was with Col.
