As you requested me to see Mr. W.W. Hill who was by Brother William's side when he was shot and helped to take care of him until he died, I saw Mr. Hill to day and he is verry low with consumption and I have him your letter but he was not able to write or even sit up and I rote for him what you wanted to him to answer. I wrote the following as he gave it to me. -over- (back of paper) I can't give you James Spangler's addres no. When I wrote him he was in Puka (?), Mississippi but told me would leave there soon and would write me where he would be but I have not heard from him since that. I hope you may be able to get your pention and any help I can be to you I will certainly do. I think if they have the Army records they will find his name in the Quartermaster's Department und Col. Cocrel (sic). My kindes regards to all Your Brother, R.H. Smith
