Killed.
Ellen Fitz, aged 26 years, of No. 140 Mulberry street, was shot in the 
left breast at 4 o'clock yesterday morning and instantly killed by 
Frederick Gilbert, a keeper on Blackwell's Island. Gilbert made his 
escape.
