Liveryman Kills Well Known Carpenter. Gibsland, La., Nov. 7.-The town was thrown suddenly into intense horror and excitement at 8 o'clock Saturday when pistol shots rang out unexpectedly and it was learned that Ed Hart, who runs a livery and feed stable at this place had shot and instantly killed Genie Hammett, a well known citizen and carpenter, who has lived here for a number of years, in fact was raised in our city. Some personal difficulty, unknown to the public, has been existing for some time, but as the inquest has not been held, the facts in the case are not known. Both men have large families, Mrs. Hammett being left with eight children, most of them small and entirely dependent. Hart left for Arcadia to surrender to the sheriff. # # #
