The slayer came to Ruston and gave himself up to Sheriff Gahagan, claiming self defense. Pinkard was locked up in the parish jail to await the action of the grand jury. He made a statement declaring that Cook struck him and was about to draw a revolver when he drew his and fired twice. No details of the affair could be learned here today. # # #
