He had swallowed a large quantity of Morphine in whiskey and also some ether. Intemperate use of liquor no doubt was the cause of the deed. NOTE: The June 6, 1867 edition of the Ouachita Telegraph, page 2, Column 1, reports the coroner's verdict in the case is "congestion of the brain." # # #
