  INDIAN REMAINS.  Some laborers, excavating a place for a cistern on Mr.
Bennett's premises above town, came upon the remains of an Indian about five
feet below the surface of the earth.  The body had been transformed into
black dirt, except the teeth, which were well preserved and indicated a man
advanced in years.  According to the Indian custom, several trinkets had
been buried in the grave, among them a ball of red paint, about two yards of
beads, and a black glass bottle of antique shape, the bottle showing,
perhaps, that the owner was a Medicine man in his day, which must have been
long long years ago.
