Having canvassed the subject, we are gratified to state that the proposition to erect a monument to the memory of the late Major T.R. Hotchkiss, is received by our citizens with general approbation. In fact, we have obtained already, from about fifteen gentlemen applied to, an aggregate subscription of over two hundred dollars, for the erection of a suitable testimonial to the memory of the departed hero. We should be pleased to see the many friends and admirers of our deceased comrade, participate actively in this tribute to his worth, and, therefore, invite those who can do so, to meet us at this office, on Monday next, at 10 o'clock, a.m., with the view of proceeding with due form in the matter of procuring subscriptions and in other necessary arrangements. # # #
