The Ouachita Telegraph - Walter Wheyland Shot Date: May 2000 Submitted by: Lora Peppers ********************************************** Copyright. The weight of the testimony is that Wheyland was shot accidentally by a policeman who had come to help Wheyland out. Wheyland was once a bureau agent at this place, and one of the sorriest of all that sorry lot of fellows who figured in that capacity at Monroe, one or two excepted. NOTES: Another article about Wheyland can be found in the January 20, 1872 edition of the Ouachita Telegraph, Page 2, Column 3. # # #
