Nathan Goldsticker, a butcher of this place, was struck on the side of the head, with a stick, on the evening of the 16th, by a negro named Bill Gray, at the butcher pen of Goldsticker; from the effect of which blow Godsticker died in about 12 hours. The testimony before the Corner's jury is, in substance, that the pen was Goldsticker's; that on the 10th inst., he had made Bill Gray leave the pen, and told him if he ever came back there he would kill him, or hurt him very bad. On the evening of the difficulty, Mr. E. Rauxet, (who was slaughtering in co-partnership with Goldsticker,) sent Gray to the pen, telling him, in reply to objections, that he (Rauxet) owned the horse and the cart, and he must go. When Gray reached the pen, Goldsticker met him, with cow whip in hand, to drive him away. Gray, it seems, ran apiece, stooped down and picked up a limb, with which he hit Godsticker on the head, felling him instantly, and was about to deliver a second blow, when Mr. Rauxet, who was present, interfered. Goldsticker was carried home not having spoken after the blow, and died about 4 o'clock the next morning, leaving a wife and five children who were dependent upon his labor for a sustenance. Bill Gray was arrested, and is now in jail. The deceased was a very industrious man, somewhat inclined to talkativeness, but by no one considered desperate or dangerous. He was a member of the order of Odd Fellows and also of the Jewish order of B'nai Berith, and of Ouachita Steam Fire Company, and was buried with appropriate honors by the two last named fraternities, the religious ceremonies being conducted by the Rev. Mr. Gluck of the Hebrew church of this city. # # #
