McClain started from his residence at Waverly to his store on the river front, and has not been seen since. From signs on the river bank the supposition is that he walked off over the bank and was drowned in the river. The Ouachita Telegraph Friday, January 22, 1875 Page 3, Column 1 The body of Mr. P.S. McClain, who, as stated last week, is believed to have been accidentally drowned two weeks ago in the river at Waverly, has not been recovered. He had about his person, at the time, a considerable sum of money, a pistol and a fine gold watch. The river has been watched and dragged without success. The Ouachita Telegraph Friday, April 2, 1875 Page 2, Column 4 The body of Mr. P.S. McLain, who was believed to be accidentally drowned some three months ago at Waverly, on the river some 28 miles below this point, was found a few miles below Waverly last week, and the remains interred at Faulk's chapel. The body was identified by the clothing. Some money was found on the deceased. His watch was in Monroe. # # #
