She came to this place some two years ago from Caldwell parish, one of the unfortunate sisterhood to whom reformation is always possible, yet seldom comes, as it did not come to her, and pursued the phantom ease at the expense of her character and with the sequel here recorded. She intended, she said, to have shot herself in the heart, but a friendly hand interposed, only however to change the direction of the fatal bullet. She received the consolations of religion at the hands of Father Enaut of whose church she was at times an attendant. # # #
