The disappearance of the little fellow has aroused the sympathy and interest of the whole city. We are in doubt what to say, but it seems to be the general opinion that the boy was drowned. The Ouachita Telegraph Friday, May 10, 1878 Page 3, Column 1 On the 4th instant, between sundown and dark, Mr. Hanna while walking on Bry & Muir’s raft, discovered the body of Mayor Endom’s little son. It will be remembered that he disappeared on Monday, the 28th April. The feeling in the community and the suspense and anxiety of the family are beyond description. Opinion had settled down to the fact that he was drowned, and Mayor Endom had every drift searched for twenty-five miles below here. The little fellow was nearly ten years old, unusually bright and vigorous, and gave promise of a long and useful life. Sunday morning – a day as bright and fair as his little life – he was consigned to the tomb. We offer the afflicted parents no consolations, for such griefs are irreparable. God gives and God takes our darlings in his own way and time; to him we must all look for comfort and consolation. # # #
