        On Sunday last, the 7th inst., Moses Mitchell shot and killed his brother,
Philip Mitchell, in front of the Rene LeBlanc plantation, on the east bank
of the river, in this parish.  It seems that Moses asked his brother for a
chew of tobacco, and Phillip refusing to give it to him, Moses got a loaded
musket and put a hole through his brother, killing him instantly.  The
murderer is now in jail, and it is rumored he is crazy.  We think if a few
crazy murderers were hung it would be better than feeding them in the
lunatic asylum at the State’s expense.
