        We learn that Doctor J.D. Harper, an old established physician and
highly esteemed citizen of Minden, met with a sad and singular accident on last
Saturday night, which resulted in his death next day.  It seems he was
lying down reading a newspaper, when he fell asleep, the paper resting on his
face.  A corner caught fire from the lamp and it was soon in a blaze.  The
Doctor awakened thus suddenly drew a quick breath and inhaled the blaze,
which, it is supposed, caused his death. - Shreveport Standard.
