All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Ouachita Telegraph Friday, March 12, 1880 Page 3, Column 1 Mr. Herman Petzold, a worthy and industrious citizen of this place engaged for several years in the confectionery and baking business, walked over the bank of the river in the darkness of Tuesday night, the 2d,. falling heavily a distance of some 15 feet among a pile of brush and rubbish. Bewildered, no doubt, by the fall, and seriously cut on the back of the head, he continued his course to the river. His body was found next day in the river about 300 feet from the point at which he is supposed to have entered the water. Mr. Petzold was a good citizen and an open-handed friend. We lament his sad fate. NOTE: In the Friday, June 4, 1880 issue, page 2, column 4, an article relates that Mrs. Petzold, her son and father-in-law leave for Guben, Germany. # # #
