Last Sunday evening De Siard street was for the second time within the past fortnight, the scene of another fatal encounter. Two young negroes, Wm. Jones and Jim Star, became involved in a difficulty about a negress, and, after the exchanging angry words for a while, Star evidently imagined that matters had gone about as far as they should, and accordingly brought his little revolver into requisition, sending two bullets into Jones, from the effects of which he (Jones) died in a few minutes. The coroner’s jury brought in a verdict of unjustifiable homicide. The killing occurred in the extreme eastern portion of the city which is know as “Guinea.” Star languishes in the “city hotel” on St. John street. # # #
